The road opens up. Then the trees gather close, the water returns, and you realize you have arrived somewhere different.
Southwest Funga Fest takes place at Kiva Bear at Nambe Falls Recreation Area because this is more than a backdrop. It is part of the experience: a real Northern New Mexico place to slow down, learn, forage, make things, hear music, meet people, and reconnect with the living world.
On September 5–6, 2026, we will gather beneath these trees for two days of mycology, citizen science, art, music, food, workshops, forays, and community.
More than a festival backdrop
Whether you are a longtime mushroom person, a curious newcomer, an artist, a family, or simply someone who needs a meaningful weekend outside, you are welcome here.
Come for the forays and workshops. Stay for the music, the art, the food, the conversations, and the rare chance to gather in a landscape that makes the whole idea feel real.
Plan your weekend
The Festival Guide has the latest on featured educators, artists and guides, experiences to look forward to, and practical information for planning your visit.
Follow Southwest Funga Fest on Facebook, Instagram and YouTube. More announcements are coming soon.
